Drag Me to Hell (2009) – 4/5

A solid horror film. Scary, twisted, a bit gross. I liked all the little references to the Evil Dead series throughout, too. And the ending, man. That’s how you end a movie, folks. Talk about guts.

The acting wasn’t that great, though. I mean, Justin Long as a professor? Come on. Or was that just part of the humor of the film? And as much as I love Alison Lohman, or looking at her at least, especially in the “grave” scene at the end, she didn’t carry this film all that well. Ellen Page would have been better.

Sure, the concept may not make much sense, but it’s a well crafted horror film with plenty of loud noises and tense music and vomit and maggots spewing all over the place. I especially liked the exorcism scene with the goat; brilliant!

Anyway, good film. Worth checking out. And man, what an ending.
