Edge of Darkness (2010) – 4/5

Pretty good. Not quite what you’d expect. Lots of talking strung together by a few intense action sequences and a relatively complex and occasionally absurd story that sort of all works in the end. And Mel Gibson is pretty damn good too.

It almost felt like a James Bond film at times, which is appropriate given the director. Though the talking does get a bit much at times, slowing down the overall pace of the film to an almost unwatchable level. It’s certainly unlike any action film I’ve seen, though, more like a drama with action in it. Still, it has an interesting story and worth sticking with.

It’s also very well acted, especially from Mel Gibson who loses himself in the role. I’ve missed him. He should be in more movies.

Good film. Not what you’d expect, though.
